Harrogate
The town became known as ‘The English Spa’ after its sulphurous waters were discovered in the 16th century. These were a popular health treatment for the wealthy and the town became prosperous. The Royal Pump Room houses Europe’s strongest sulphur well but is now a museum showcasing the town’s spa history.
